One of my teachers once told me, “Bookish knowledge is never going to be enough at work and outside of school. And not everything we are going to teach you at school.” During my first job, I realized what he meant. My education taught me to analyze, make decisions, and provide advice, but in this changing world, there is always a new way to solve problems. To advance my skills and make my experience more valuable, I continuously learned different tools and skills.
Brand Development Tools
My post graduation in Marketing focused on business and brand development, strategic marketing, and decision-making. However, while working in marketing, I also learned various tools like Canva, Adobe, and InShot to create content and promote brands on social media (specifically targeted platforms). Later, as I worked more closely on building brands, I started learning technical skills, from buying domains to creating websites using WordPress and Squarespace.
Mapping & Visual Tools
The representation of work is important in today’s visually-driven world. Even critical data, maps, or simple information require effective presentation. To create timelines, project information, ecosystems, geographical maps, and project diagrams, I learned to use tools like Kumu and Miro.
Project Management Tools
I also became proficient with different project management tools such as Asana, Tripletex, Weglot, Microsoft Teams, and Crescat. These tools have been essential in managing projects efficiently and effectively.
